- €600/month for the first 6 months, €700/month from the 6th month on, per Regione Puglia’s regional law on extracurricular internships (L.R. 26/2023). Same for everyone, no negotiation.
Multiple positions available, with at least 30% reserved for international students. Same rule as everywhere else at A5: we primarily consider candidates based in the EU or NATO member countries, though exceptional candidates from other regions are also welcome. For international candidates, we offer relocation packages to help make the move.
About the role
A5 S.r.l. builds marine surface and underwater robotics for ocean biodiversity monitoring. As an intern, you’ll be assigned to a real, scoped piece of work inside one of our engineering or R&D teams, not busywork on the side. Engineering and lab work run out of A5’s marine robotics laboratory in Puglia.
Who we’re looking for
Someone currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an engineering, physics, or computer science program, comfortable picking up new tools fast and working independently once pointed in a direction. You don’t need to already know everything about the specific topic: you need to be curious enough to learn it on the job.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll work inside one of our engineering or R&D teams on a real, scoped deliverable, not a simulation of one: something that actually gets built, tested, and used, same as everything else we ship. Expect close day-to-day contact with whoever’s supervising your area, not a hands-off arrangement where you show up at the end with results.
Outreach
- English comes first, in documentation, reports, and presentations alike: we want everything accessible across all our offices in the EU. Italian is fine too, mostly for casual chat with colleagues, just not required.

Among the topics here, you’ll find ground for marine robotics and autonomous robotic systems, acoustic sensing and sonar-based perception, optics and underwater computer vision, embedded electronics and power systems, mechanical design for extreme underwater environments, connectors and quick-release mechanisms, small sensor modules, instrumentation for biology, even sociology and human factors around ocean access or UI/UX for field and research tools, and AI/ML for autonomous perception and on-device decision-making. These are starting points, not fixed briefs: final scope gets shaped together based on what you want to work on and what the team needs at the time.
Qualifications
Enrollment in, or recent graduation from, a relevant technical degree program (engineering, physics, computer science, or similar). No specific prior professional experience required: we weigh curiosity and hands-on comfort over a finished CV.
